Food help for Florida seniors
Food assistance for Floridians 60 and older — CSFP food boxes, home-delivered meals, senior SNAP rules, and where to start.
Florida has one of the largest senior populations in the country, and several programs exist specifically for adults 60 and older.
CSFP monthly food boxes
The Commodity Supplemental Food Program provides a free monthly box of shelf-stable groceries to income-eligible adults 60+. Boxes typically include cereal, canned fruits and vegetables, protein, milk, and cheese. Search our directory for CSFP distribution sites.
Home-delivered and group meals
Area Agencies on Aging coordinate home-delivered meals (Meals on Wheels) and congregate dining at senior centers. Call the Florida Elder Helpline at 1-800-963-5337 to be connected to your local agency.
SNAP is simpler for seniors
- Households where everyone is 60+ (or disabled) face no gross-income test and may deduct out-of-pocket medical expenses over $35/month — which often raises the benefit substantially
- Most senior households qualify for longer certification periods with less paperwork
- Apply through MyACCESS or get application help by dialing 2-1-1
Grocery delivery with SNAP
Florida SNAP benefits can be used for online grocery orders at most major retailers — useful for seniors with limited mobility.
